The HAL Ajeet, Indian Gnat fighter, served the Air Force from 1977 to 1991. Developed from the Folland Gnat, it played a vital role in the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars. It was retired in 1991 and its prototype now decorates Air Force stations acrross the country.
