This rare Top-Side View shows F-111C A8-148 Cn D1-24 performing a rapid 360 degree roll to Port (with wings swept at 72 degrees) during a flypast at an Amberley Airshow on 28Mar1976. The horizontal stabilizers have a lot of deflection for a low-level pass! (I recall that the Navigator on this spectacular demo flight was nick-named 'Shorty'). This was the Last F-111C Delivered to the RAAF in Dec 1973, in the initial batch of 24 aircraft. In 2006, A8-148 was one of four F-111s involved in sinking the seized freighter ‘Pong Su’ off Jervis Bay, using laser guided bombs. ‘Pong Su’ was at the centre of a drug smuggling operation. Retired F-111C A8-148 was Delivered to Fighterworld Museum at RAAF Williamtown on 04May2013, after road transport from Amberley Queensland.
