Notes:

Rare low res front Port side view of RAAF 5 Squadron Huey UH-1D A2-649 Cn 5649 hovering (with troop doors open) during Exercise ‘Fix-Fast’ at LZ Blue, Mt Byron, QLD on 10Sep1969. (I flew from RAAF Base Amberley to Mt Byron [and return] in A2-649 that day). This Iroquois, ex US Army 66-1166, was Delivered to 5 Squadron Fairbairn in Nov 1967, as a UH-1D. (She was transferred to Army in Dec 1989, as a UH-1H. The helo is now in the Army Aviation Museum at Oakey YBOK Queensland.) Apologies for quality of this 1969 image, scanned from a grainy Agfa 35mm colour slide.) The RAAF celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the establishment of No 5 Squadron, in Canberra in October 2017.
