Notes:

Spitfire RR232 is a unique aircraft even amongst Spitfire, built from scratch in Great Britain using parts sourced from around the world by its owner Martin Phillips. After friends presented him with a single rivet and challenged him to build a Spitfire, a 13 year long quest began, which culminated in a first flight from Bristol in 2012. RR232s fuselage being that of a 1944 Mark IX Spitfire found in Worthing, West Sussex, just a short drive from her home base at Goodwood. But this is truly a Spitfire of the people, with parts being sourced from myriad locations around the world. The wings were recovered from a crashed Spitfire that had been lying in a hedge near a pub in Exeter for decades before being salvaged! It was also the last plane to be built at Filton aerodrome. With a fully rebuilt Merlin engine installed and running and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) happy that all had been done to the highest standard, in December 2012 Spitfire RR232 took to the skies.
