Rear Port side 1971 view of visiting RAAF 1 Squadron F-4E Phantom II A69-7202 Cn 3855, on static display at Canberra (YSCB). Photo taken at the RAAF 50th Anniversary Air Display at RAAF Fairbairn, Canberra on 02Apr1971. Unfortunately, the tail of the aircraft was in the shadow of Hangar 47. (Even now, many airshow static display aircraft are poorly placed for photography.) The RAAF was using leased USAF Phantoms at Amberley while waiting for delivery of 24 F-111Cs, delayed at General Dynamics, Fort Worth, by structural problems. F-4E A69-7202 was delivered to the RAAF in Sep 1970, and returned to the USAF in Nov 1972. Apologies for low quality of this 1971 photo.
