USAF C-5A Galaxy 66-8306 Cn 500-0004, operated by 60th MAW, arrived at RAAF Fairbairn YSCB on 01Jan1992 carrying the Presidential Limousine for the visit to Canberra by United States President George Bush (Snr) who arrived shortly afterwards aboard Air Force One (B747-200 / VC-25A 82-8000). After Air Force One departed for Tokyo on 03Jan1992, the vehicle was loaded aboard Galaxy 66-8306 (the Fourth C-5A built), and the heavy Galaxy also departed for Tokyo, using most of Canberra’s Runway 35 to get airborne. Close-cropped rear Port side view of the C-5A departing, wearing NATO ‘Lizard’ livery. This aircraft was assigned to AMARC on 18Feb2004, and ‘Broken Up’ in Mar 2007. Parts of the aircraft were later used as a cargo load trainer at Lackland AFB Texas. Apologies for quality of this 1992 photo.
