Rare low res Flight Deck view of RAAF 9 Squadron UH-1H Iroquois A2-770, taken ‘In-Flight’ while departing RAAF Williamtown (YWLM) on 26Jan1978. The aircraft was one of three Hueys which flew to Amberley via Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour that day. Huey A2-770 Cn 9770 was Delivered to RAAF 9 Squadron, Vung Tau Vietnam on 05Jul1968, ex US Army FMS 67-17572. Sadly, this aircraft Crashed at El Alamein, South Australia, during a night flying exercise on 25Nov1978. The crew of five, including the Unit Commanding Officer, died in the crash. Sincere condolences are extended to the relations and friends of the crew. Apologies for the quality of this 37 year old photo. (Ref: ADF-Serials.)
