Founders Plaza - The official airport observation and plane spotting area for DFW airport.
Situated on North Airfield Drive, it is a small area skirting the airport fence, with an aviation theme like map of airport, its history and a scale model of water canon salute. It has benches, binoculars, water fountains and canopies to protect from you the hot Texas sun. ATC chatter is also piped onto loud speakers.
From spotting point of view, its good post afternoon and offers an excellent view of approach to runway 18R. The traffic on this runway however is mainly American Airlines. With a big lens you can also get shots of aircraft lining up on RWY 18L, but the heat haze can kill the pic. The UPS ramp is right next to this spotting location.
