This aircraft was presented to BAF in recognition of the it's contribution to the Bangladesh War of Liberation. The Mig–21 FL entered IAF service in 1963. The FL version was introduced in 1965 which continues to be in service till date. It was manufactured under license in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The Indian Air Force used it both as an air interceptor and as a ground attack fighter, during the 1971 War, the MiG–21 FL performed multifarious roles. Air defense, counter air operation, interdiction and battlefield strikes. It was presented by Air Chief Marshal AY Tipnis PVSM AVSM VM ADC Chief of Air Staff of IAF on the 10th of February 2000. Armament capability; 1XGuns x200 Rounds +2x500 kg Bombs or 2x16-57 mm rockets or 2x1kg-13 missiles.
