Notes:

Final for runway 9. Since the opening of runway 8R, approaches to runway 9 have become rather rare. However, during this stormy summer afternoon there were some heavy thunderstorms right on the final approach course to runway 8L, forcing some of the traffic to spill out to runway 9. In the background, just below and ahead of the nose gear, you can see the distinctive top of the O'Quinn Medical Tower as well as other landmarks of the Texas Medical Center. Also, just behind the main landing gear you can see the America Tower, which is located in the Montrose area and was one of the former Continental Airlines headquarters in the Houston area, faded by the jet blast.
