I saw the very first Hawker Siddeley Hawk make its public debut at Farnborough less than a month after its first flight by Duncan Simpson on 21st August 1974; that same aircraft remains in service and is now with the Empire Test Pilots’ School at Boscombe Down. It is seen here at the Valley Aviation Society Enthusiasts’ Day at Valley forty years to the day after its first flight. The type entered service with the RAF here at Valley in 1976 and has served with the Red Arrows since 1979.
