My tribute to the flagship of Russian aviation, probably the best passenger aircraft ever designed and built by Russian engineers. It was operated by Aeroflot for almost 20 years and it is seen here departing for its last flight to Istanbul. After just one more flight to Tashkent and back this very airframe closed the historical page of Il-96 era. Amazing, but the airline did not hold any farewell ceremony, nor even expressed gratefulness or respect to this great airliner. They just stopped its operation and only employees and enthusiasts were aware of that.
