Rare view of visiting RAAF Phantom F-4E A69-7211 Cn 3868 rolling out on Canberra’s Rwy35 with a brake parachute deployed. The chute was needed on the short main Runway, which has since been extended twice. Photo taken at the RAAF 50th Anniversary Air Display at RAAF Fairbairn, Canberra on 02Apr1971. The RAAF was using leased USAF Phantoms at Amberley while waiting for delivery of 24 F-111Cs, delayed at General Dynamics, Fort Worth, by structural problems. F-4E A69-7211 was delivered to the RAAF in Oct1970, and returned to the USAF in Jun1973. Low res photo.
