Low res Stbd side view of former Poland Air Force WSK-Mielec SB Lim-2 (Licence Built MiG-15UTI Midget) VH-BPG Cn 1A06007 (Code 607) shortly after arrival (from NAS Nowra) at the Canberra Festival Air Show on 13Mar1993. Both canopies are open, and the aircraft is being re-fuelled by a BP Refuelling Tanker. The aircrafts Klimov VK-1 engine (copy of Rolls Royce Nene) is a thirsty beast, so the external wing tanks are needed for long transits. Photo taken the day that WSK-Mielec SB Lim-2 VH-LSN (Code 6015) crashed near Canberra Airport. It was also Federal Election Day. The pilot of VH-BPG that day was Tony Derkinderan and the pilot of VH-LSN was Errol Kavenaugh. This was also the last day that VH-BPG flew. After the crash of VH-LSN, it was decided to fly VH-BPG back to Nowra - it never flew again. (Ref: Paul James Comments.)
