Notes:

This Helicopter crash landed on the 8th May in the woods beside Morro da Urca Heliport possibly due to a wind gust of 25 knots at a critical moment on the short final. Pilot plus 5 tourists visiting the Sugar Loaf were on board. Everyone survived, some with minor injuries. The crash land happened very close to the mountain side, but the pilot was able to regain control and avoid the impact on the mountain, which would most likely have been deadly. At the time in Rio winds at this altitude were gusting from 25 to 35+ knots and changing direction suddenly from 210 all the way to 290. The Pilots that work there are very used to landing and taking off under extreme wind. The CENIPA (brazilian NTSB) has started the investigations.
