On 29Jun2012, the 50th Anniversary of the Vickers VC-10 was celebrated at Brooklands UK. Occasionally, VC-10s visited Australia. RAF VC-10 K.3 Tanker ZA147 was at RAAF Base Fairbairn ACT on 15Apr1987, to provide Air to Air Refuelling experience for the pilots of four new RAAF 3 Squadron F/A-18A Hornets. (This VC-10, Code F, was operated by 101 Squadron RAF, based at Brize Norton.) Front view of ZA147, with RAAF mobile stairs and 75KVA generator. (34 Squadron VIP Mystere 20C A11-085 is visible at rear right.) Note: RAF Vickers VC-10 K3 ZA147 made the last ever flight of the Type from Brize Norton to Bruntingthorpe on 25Sep2013.
