Notes:

Scores of unruffled pigeons on an active main runway 08-26 ! Used by helicopters , light executive craft and gliders , 08-26 has been the centre of a few incidents i.e. 15 July 1953, a BOAC Comet mistook this rwy for CSIAs 09-27 and landed here. On 28 May 1968, the pilot of a Garuda Indonesia Convair 990 also mistook Juhu Aerodrome for Santacruz Airport and tried to land his aircraft. It overshot the runway falling just short of the traffic road ahead and several residential buildings when its nose wheel got stuck in a ditch at the end of the runway. All passengers survived. The most famous incident undoubtedly was on September 24, 1972 when a Japan Airlines McDonnell Douglas DC-8 (JA8013)-Flight 472 en route to Bombay landed at Juhu Airport runway 08, instead of Bombay Airport runway 09. The aircraft overran the runway through a ditch due extremely poor visibility. there were no injuries reported, but the aircraft was written off.
