This MD-90 shows off her raw power on a 5,700 foot runway. Two IAE V2500 engines produce a total of 56,000 pounds of thrust to rocket this aircraft skyward. Also note the atmospheric effect under the left wing which distorts the American titles in the background. It looks like the air was cut with a knife.

After looking at thousands of great shots,I think this one is the best I have seen!.Brilliant.
Great shot. MD-8's and 9's are my all time favorite type of aircraft. I love the shape of their wings and how far back on the fuselage they are. I didn't notice the effect under the left wing until I read your description. What an eye-opener!
