| Remarks: The RAAF will retire the remaining F-111 aircraft in December 2010, after 37 years Service from 1973. The type is being replaced by interim F/A-18F Super Hornets, until F-35s are introduced. RF-111C A8-126 flew the last RAAF Airshow F-111 displays at Williamtown on 18/19Sep2010. Photo shows a sneak 'Top-side Pass' (without Dump and Burn) in dark overcast conditions on Sunday 19Sep2010, over Williamtown's Rwy 12. The wings are swept back to 72 degrees for this high speed/ high 'G' run. The horizontal stabilisers have plenty of deflection, and wisps of vapour are visible on the wings. The F-111 and its unique Dump and Burn display is now being consigned to history. It will be missed, especially by aviation photographers! |
