One of 771 Sqn’s rescue Sea Kings is seen here arriving at Fairford for RIAT. 771 provides a SAR service to Cornwall and the Scilly Isles and has a flight of 3 Sea Kings at Prestwick which provides a similar service to south-central Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. Rescue services for the rest of the UK are provided by detached flights of the RAF’s 22 Sqn which also operates the Sea King, and by the Coast Guard. A unified contractorised service is being planned.
