Flying out on USAirways' N118HQ after a great few days of photography at Charlotte. If you look carefully along the horizon at the upper left, you'll see a lot of brown-red dust uplifted from all the earth moving which appears to be the clearing for a third runway. I hope not, as it might mean the loss of the aviation viewing park. Friendly and welcoming people all around here!

You are correct. That is dirt from our 3rd parallel set to be complete in January 2010. From what I have been told, the overlook WILL stay, and one of the future taxi-ways connecting the new runway to the current 18 right will run just to the south of the overlook. Nice photo!
