Remarks: The first time I saw Ruben, it had a 75th anniversary scheme on it. Today, not ONLY is it no longer with that scheme, its also missing a starboard engine?! Its a shame to see a relatively new airliner sit like this. She belongs in the air! What is the story behind this plane?

Hello there Mario! First of all, congratulations for your photo, despite of the sad scene that is a 777 with an engine missing, this airliner is always a beauty and a impressive bird! We all hope to see she flying again as soon as possible! Well, about the 75th anniversary sticker, you saw it at the PP-VRB, also named as "Ruben Berta". It is still wearing the big blue 75 sticker by the front door. Maybe, we could see a big 80 next year on the whole Varig´s fleet, celebrating not only the 80th anniversary, but also a new life for the most beloved Airline of Brazil.. Best regards.. Hello Mario. Adding to what Haroldo wrote, Varig didn´t pay the engine lessor for a couple of months due to its critical financial situation. In response, they simply removed it from the plane, as you can see only one is missing. Today a new auction was approved as a second attempt to sell the company. Sad situation, I think.
