Those helicopters ("Christoph 9" and "Lifeliner 3") met at Niederrhein airport (EDLV) because of an important event: A new cooperation project was founded and officially started at 01.10.2003; now both of those helicopters can be used for HEMS / ambulance missions in areas which are beyond the state border (Germany / Netherlands border). This had been not possible before and it is a unice project now. You can read more about this at www.rth.info and www.luftrettung-info.de.vu (in German language, though).
