Remarks: Tanker 471 sits on the ramp at Billings awaiting it's next call during a very hot and dry Montana summer. It's hard to believe that this very smart airframe was built in 1959. Let's hope that she carries on flying for many years to come.
Remarks: Scanned from a slide so perhaps not as sharp as I would have liked. An "up close and personal" view of one of the most impressive miltary aircraft of it's era. Carrying out pre-flight checks before it's mission, this 522FS/27FW F-111D was a long way from it's home of Cannon AFB, New Mexico. It was to be the last deployment for these aircraft as they were destined for AMARC on their return to the USA to be replaced by Lakenheath F-111F's. Gone but certainly not forgotten.
Remarks: A welcome visitor to this Lincolnshire base. The aircraft was at Waddington to pick up Red Arrows support equipment for the Turkish Anniversary Show at Cigli.
Remarks: Although having carried these special markings for a few years now, this scheme still looks very attractive. Minutes before, this aircraft was being worked on by mechanics, but our very amiable guide, the second in command on base who had just flown in from Hradec Kralove, asked them to clean everything up and move away while we took the the photo's, he even asked them to re-position the aircraft in order that we could get images of the tail design on the port side. A great bunch of guy's and a great base visit.
Remarks: A 222 Sqdn Albatross returns to base on the Monday after it's spirited display at Hradec Kralove over the weekend. It was the pilot's first ever display routine. The dark clouds that make for the more dramatic backdrop were a portent of things to come.................a few minutes later we were quickly heading back to the crew room being bombarded with hail and soaked by rain!
Remarks: A menacing looking Gripen stares out from the ramp at Pardubice. On strength with 211 Squadron, this aircraft is normally based at Caslav but was in temporary residence at LKPD while work was being carried out at it's home base.
