Remarks: During AeroNostalgia... Few months ago, i uploaded two photos from this festival. One with the runway+A310 taking off and another one with the A310 doing a low pass right over my head. Now i decided to mix the two photos and show you the final low pass, with a crop similar to the one of the takeoff!
Remarks: Straight from a Hollywood movie. A ex-military hijacked the aircraft, after pretending to be a photographer shooting parachute jumps from inside the airplane. The aircraft took off from LPEV (Évora) to LPCS (Tires) with 2 parachuters, and right after, the hijacker diverted the aircraft using a pistol. When the aircraft was landing at Tires, the pilot managed to take the weapon from the terrorist, but he went for the controls and tried to crash the airplane. The parachuters jumped at very low altitude and the aircraft landed with the engine shut down, with a strugle between the pilot and the hijacker, skidded into a ditch breaking the left wing and left again to the grass breaking the landing gear. The pilot jumped from the aircraft as soon as it hit the ground and the hijacker committed suicide (you can see him underneath the left wing). It also seems that the hijacker's car exploded in Évora. Handheld, raining a lot, and almost dark.
Remarks: The perfect end for an awesome Spotters Day at Real Thaw 12 Exercise... this Orion is seen here entering the runway for departure to Beja AB after a short sunset visit to Monte Real at the end of the afternoon missions!
Remarks: During AeroNostalgia! Impressive takeoff on a 1800m runway, with still lots of it remaining! Minutes later a farewell fly by was performed, since this is the last A310 from TAP, being removed from service in August!
Remarks: Flying low over the Ria de Aveiro in a ferry flight from Montijo AB to Ovar AB during Real Thaw 11 Exercise. A few hours after landing we took off in another C-130 for an extraction mission to Bragança where we picked up a team from the Navy's Detachment of Special Operations (DAE) that were in the field since 1 week ago and returned to Ovar. After delivering the PoAF's Unit of Protection of the Force that assisted the mission we departed again heading back to Montijo with the DAE... what a day!!
Remarks: The only Embraer 145 in the fleet of Diexim... with a luxury background! Two An24 from ALADA, one Yak40 from Angola Air Force, lots of An12 from Angola Air Force, and lots of other rare aircrafts! Photo taken by my uncle and uploaded with permission!
Remarks: First ever Full Special Scheme (besides tail arts) on a Portuguese F-16! And what's the better way to show it to the world? I tell you... by performing one of the most spectacular low passes that i have ever seen! This paint scheme celebrates the 50 years of the Monte Real Air Base, and this photo was taken during the Spotters Day. Ps: Check out the F-86 painted on top of the F-16's fuselage... Congratulations to everyone involved in this project!
Remarks: During Iberian Spotters Meeting, in association between APEA & AIRE... Kinda funny: Portuguese and Spanish Spotters, photographing an aircraft belonging to a Spanish Group, but with Portuguese registration! Ps: The airport fence can be seen on the right side of the frame, such as the orange lightning system of the runway 03 threshold... Park your car on the Repsol Gas Station, and walk few meters into the grass. Simple!
