Remarks: Arriving over the Californian coast a few minutes before sunrise, on a spectacular Christmas Eve morning. LAX is just coming into sight in the top right corner, as well as Long Beach Airport (KLGB), as we continue our approach to join the ILS for 24R with about 20 track miles to run, completing the 12.5hr flight from BNE aboard QF175.
Remarks: Orbiting Brampton Island at 1000ft, giving a stunning view of the crystal clear water and northern part of the island, including the airstrip.
Remarks: On a 3nm final for Runway 14 at Hamilton Island. A stunning approach, even when the weather isnt that great and punching into a 30kt headwind! Note the bizjet on the apron.
Remarks: Hideaway Bay - A small seaside town, located just north of Airlie Beach, in the Whitsundays. The surrounding areas have many short bush strips like this one, which are privately owned. Taken enroute to Townsville at 8500ft.
Remarks: A nice size comparison between the 747-200 and 707, as well as the two different Qantas liveries. The 747 is basically parked in the car park at this small regional port. Note the Terminal building on the left.
Remarks: Taken after departing Runway 22 as we continue our left turn for Emerald, giving a nice overview of the airport and Qantas Museum, holding the B707 and B747.
Remarks: The Qantas Business Class section on the upper deck, as we maintain FL370 with a GS of 955km/hr aboard QF 175 BNE - LAX. With the mood lighting set, we had just over 8hrs of flight time remaining before our sunrise arrival in LAX.
Remarks: One of the world's most pristine beaches 'Whitehaven Beach’ located just a few miles off the coast on Whitsunday Island. The 5km long beach and the complex river system of the 'Inlet' make a fantastic view from the air!
