Remarks: At the Tango holding point it looks as though the flight crew decided that they were not completely happy with the de-icing perfomed at the gate. This was not a usual sight!
Remarks: The departure from Runway 05L this morning offered me the opportunity to take a photo of this overview of the airport - which was a pleasant bonus for a non-frequent flyer such as myself.
Remarks: A line up of seven aircraft waiting along Taxiway Alpha for take off from Runway 05L. here we are looking across 05R from a position not far from the South Side fire station.
Remarks: Our flight from Manchester to Kephalonia gave us clear skies over North West Europe. Soon after crossing the Dutch coast those of us on the left hand side of the aircraft were given this splendid view of Amsterdam Airport .
Remarks: Following another very hot day small fires broke out on the lower slopes of Mount Ainos on Kephalonia. '101' is one of two locally based airborne firefighters which patrol this beautiful island and work to stamp out such fires before they take hold. This aircraft makes a low pass to drop its load of water in support of the firefighters on foot already on the slopes, one of whom can be seen on the far left possibly about to get a drenching!
Remarks: Touchdown on Runway 32 at Kephalonia. This view shows the very small terminal building and apron, which can only accommodate a few large airliners at any one time. Also in shot is one of two based Greek Air Force PZL-Mielec M-18B Dromaders, used for firefighting duties.
Remarks: Spoilers raised to help slow this 747 following arrival on Runway 23R. The lights for Runway 05L have been illuminated for their daily inspection.
Remarks: An overview of the left side of the small apron at Kephalonia, where business/private aircraft are parked. In the shot we see (from right to left) Learjet 45 G-OLDT; Hawker 800XP CS-DRG; Global Express LX-VIP; MD-900 Explorer HB-ZDF; Learjet 45 I-DFSL and N954**.
Remarks: Leaving Manchester on a foul morning for the sunny weather of Greece. We departed Runway 05L and soon turned on a southerly heading, allowing this brief look back to the airport, where the staggered runways and aprons are clearly visible.
