Remarks: [Canon 1D Mark III + Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L] Everyone enjoys different things at Maho Beach. In this case, a gentleman looks for shells and could care less about the classic Convair buzzing his head. I was lucky to capture this moment, as my outbound flight to St. Barts that morning was canceled, leaving me with an hour of free time to walk back out to the beach. On January 17, 2011, this aircraft made an emergency landing at St. Thomas, after the crew reported an engine fire and loss of hydraulics. N8277Q landed, but was unable to slow, veering off the runway and through the airport fence. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
