Remarks: The NSF-NCAR flying laboratory G-V is in Salina for much of the summer of 2012, conducting experiments in conjunction with the "DC3" project, measuring the transport of chemicals throughout the atmosphere in convective cells. The G-V is scheduled to take high-altitude samples, with NASA's DC-8 taking low level samples and a German Aerospace Center (DLR) Falcon 20 taking mid-level readings.
Remarks: Not your typical Gulfstream interior. A huge thanks to the crew for letting me on board while they powered up their equipment ready to depart on another leg of their HIPPO Pole-to-Pole research trip
Remarks: A very special visitor which had arrived two days before from Easter Island, Chile and seen here heading to Jeffco, Denver on its last leg of the HIPPO 2009 mission. The route was 24,200 nautical miles and took 21 days to complete. [Canon EOS 40D + Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 L IS USM]
Remarks: Aircraft is ready to depart for a flight to Jefferson Airport (KBJC) near Denver, CO. Too bad I couldn't hitch a ride back home on this aircraft!
