Remarks: A small airfield with quite some history.
Built between August 7th and August 27th 1927 and in this time it was the first airfield in North America built for transatlantic flying.
On May 20th 1932 Amelia Earhart took off here for what should become the first solo crossing of the Atlantic done by a woman.
After WWII the airstrip was abandoned. The Harbour Grace Historical Society restored it to useable conditions and it reopened in 1977.
