Remarks: High speed pass of an F/A18F Super Hornet at Williamtown Airshow. The pilot lined up the crowd and at about 800ft and just under the speed of sound went straight over the top of us. You can even see the afterburner exhaust plumes!

'Sister-ship' A44-207, which also flew that day, was fitted with two external fuel tanks on Stbd wing and Center-line stations (known as the 'Double Ugly' assymetric configuration). RAAF F-111s will be Retired in December 2010, being replaced by F/A-18F Rhinos (as an interim Type) until delivery of F-35s.
