Remarks: C/S: 'Mirage 1 / Mirage 2. This was the first time that both Mirages taxied on their own power after nearly a year here in Malta. High power engine runs and high speed taxis were going to be performed but it didn't last long as they had a technical problem.
Remarks: LAF Mirage taxiing back to Medavia hanger after cancelling high power taxi runs because of technical problems. This was a historic moment for us spotters because it was the first time we saw the mirages taxiing under their own power. They also used the same call signs they used when they diverted to MLT: Mirage 1 and Mirage 2
Remarks: Mirage formation performing a spetacular farewell low pass on runway 13 after take off on their return to Libya. Both aircraft were flown by the same pilots who defected from Libya on 21 Feb 2011.
Remarks: History in the making ! Exactly one year after that these 2 x LAF Mirage F1s had disobeyed orders to attack civilian rebels in Benghazi during the Libyan uprising, and defected to Malta, they were flown back to Libya, now wearing the new Libyan flag roundels, by the same two pilots who had originally defected to Malta and given political asylum.
