Remarks: At 8.23am on Saturday, June 16, this ATR42 suffered a left main gear collapse while taxying off Runway 27 at Jersey. No injuries were suffered; here, airline staff remove baggage, while fire/emergency vehicles are in attendance. The runway reopened at around 4pm, local time. The aircraft has now been declared a write-off.
Remarks: American Eagle Flight 4069 from Tulsa slide off the runway after reporting mechanical problems, there were no fatalities or injures reported. Please excuse the poor quality of the photo.
Remarks: B24 "Diamond Lil" declared emergency and soon was seen with a collapsed landing gear surrounded by Charlotte fire and police. It was at the aviation museum for the weekend and was giving rides. Hopefully she can be restored and fly once more...
Remarks: Quite a catch, finding this Turbo Thrush all battered up, hiding from the strong midday sun. I could not get any details on her past, nor on her fate; but I sure hope to catch her flying again.
Oh, the dangers of crop dusting! La Mina is a nice base not too far away from the Peruvian border.
Remarks: 'An ATR-72-212A passenger plane sustained damage in a runway excursion accident at München-Franz Josef Strauss Airport (MUC), Germany. There were 58 passengers and four crew members on board. One passenger sustained minor injuries.
Lufthansa subsidiary Air Dolomiti operated flight LH1912 from Munich to Venice, Italy. The flight departed at 13:34. Shortly after takeoff smoke was reported in the cabin. The captain decided to return to Munich. On approach the pilot reported engine problems and the crew feather prop number 2. Upon landing on runway 26L, the ATR-72 suffered a runway excursion. Remarks: After taking off for Venice the pilot reported smoke in the cabin and returned to MUC. Reportedly it was smoke out of the broken right engine that has been sucked into the cabin by the air conditioning system. After landing the plane suddenly ran off the runway into the field where after a view leaps the nose landing gear collapsed. The picture shows evacuation in progress seconds after the plane stopped. Today is the 20th anniversary of MUC airport by the way.
Remarks: A very unfortunate Turbo Thrush, here spotted at the base of La Mina. The cause for this mishap is unknown, as is this airframe´s future. I guess it is up to the insurance company whether this fine bird will take to the skies again.
Remarks: This small prop has crashed around 5p.m. According some local spotters due a low speed and falled out the air. 3 passengers are light injured and the pilot went to hospital .
Remarks: Wing Commander H.S. Mangat, was intercepted by PAF MiG-19s whilst on a photo-recce mission and his Su-7 hit by a Sidewinder missile. The explosion carried away half the rudder, the elevators, ailerons and flaps and were all heavily damaged. Wg. Cdr. Mangat disengaged successfully and then returned to his base despite the extensive damage to his aircraft, a tribute to his flying skill and to the toughness of the Su-7.The tail is in a well preserved condition in the museum.Credits to Brian for editing the shot.
Remarks: This ATR of the RTAF skidded of rwy14 at VGZR during landing,at about 8AM local time.It was on a cross country training flight,of the total 15 pax 3 have been seriously injured.Its initially being suspected that either the right wheel collapsed or the right main landing
gear brake jammed upon touch down.I reached the airport 20mins after the incident.Nobody was
being allowed near the crash site then as it was in the BAF area of the airport.To take this shot I had to board a flight to cox's bazar on a Regent Airways flight as it was the only flight leaving in 6mins,sat in the jump seat of the dash-8,didnt fasten my seatbelts as I had a hunch that the a/c would rotate before the crash site and it did!So i jumped over the first officer's shoulder,pushed him front and took the shot!Thanks to Partho bhai,hasib bhai,zafor bhai,a former aviation analyst and also cpt Azam and Karim for letting me ride
