Remarks: A great looking plane with great looking engines and a new tapered wing instead of a winglet. With six of these in the fleet already, Cathay is the largest operator of the 747-8F as of summer 2012.
Remarks: A rather different looking plane for me. This odd looking colour scheme features the titles of four different airlines; KLM, Air France, Martinair and Kenya Airways as well as Safari Connection titles!
Remarks: Gorgeous summer light on the nose of this clean looking 747-400, departing back to Fiji. Even the engine cowlings are all shiny unlike those at my own airline! They look like they've been polished.
Remarks: Every now and then, even while I am clicking the shutter button I can think "WOW - this is going to look amazing!" and in my opinion anyway, it does! The weather in Hong Kong in the summer months provides some of the bluest clearest skies we get all year.
Remarks: A nice catch for me. On the short flight to Taipei, China Airlines planes are normally too high up to make a decent shot. The only real chance is on their daily Hong-Kong to Jakarta flight which is a lot lower and departs during the great afternoon sunlight. For it also to be the newly painted Skyteam A330 is a definite bonus!
Remarks: Despite only having two 747s, it is always a pleasure to get photos of Air pacific, especially in such nice light. It won't be long before these are retired and we will get to see the A330s here.
Remarks: Blasting off back to Dubai on one of those classic summer days in Hong Kong. Very hot, very humid, very sweaty but well worth it for the photos!
Remarks: Blasting off to Manila as CX903. This could be the last time I get such a good photo of this aircraft as a couple of months from now HUD is due to be retired and scrapped.
Remarks: This must have been one of the last flights before this aircraft was repainted. A couple of weeks after this I saw N416MC emerge from the hangar in Hong Kong in the new yellow DHL tail colours that two of her sisterships are already wearing.
