Remarks: Taxiing out to runway 23L, passing right in front of the Aviation Viewing Park. Check out those wild dark storm clouds in the background, lit by sunlight behind me.
Remarks: Incredibly clear and calm day, early on a Sunday morning. This is the view of Long Island Islip MacArthur airport with Long Island Sound at the top of the image (just below the coastline of Connecticut). The black building near the top of the image is the University Hospital at Stony Brook and the lake is Lake Ronkonkoma, a kettle (glacier) lake. Look carefully on the ramp at the very center and you'll see a parked BBJ (737).
Remarks: Thankfully, some sunlight adorned the morning as I snapped away at the Terminal 2 activity at Manchester. A great airport! Notice the flight crew in the cockpit in this image, both looking to the gates to navigate the two dozen aircraft already parked.
Remarks: Really tough to get some sunlight at Manchester, but on this morning, right after sunrise, I had about 2 hours worth of good light, so some nice 23R landings were easy to get.
Remarks: Great morning light as this heavy bird lifts off runway 05L. Notice the hue of the "BMI" billboard on the forward fuselage; a white-metallic sheen when the sunlight hits it just right. Compare to image 6205125.
Remarks: This is the view northward in Manchester Airport's Skylink walkway that connects Terminal 1 with the local train station and then Terminal 2 to the northwest. It's impressively lit in this blue hue during the evening hours. If you look carefully out the left window, you'll see what I believe is the Radisson SAS Manchester hotel.
Remarks: Just looked over my shoulder on this messy cloudy day and the way the light hit this windscreen really caught my eye. Who says you can't grab a neat photo on a cloudy day?
Remarks: Nice takeoff in the bright sunlight against the dark storm clouds of early morning. Check out the logo on this jet's nose..."Hot Lips" named after the registration.
