Remarks: A very busy airfield situated in the Essex countryside, just east of London. Lots of people here to see the Goodyear Blimp airship which appears to be based here at the moment, along with lots along to watch the wing-walking sessions on a Stearman which take place every weekend.
Remarks: Climbing out from RWY21 at Lydd with a great view of the terminal and the many light aircraft parked up - lots of aircraft tend to stop here on the way to/from France.
Remarks: How times have changed since my last overview of Southend in 2009 (see photo ID 6673219). The new terminal and state of the art control tower are now built (left hand corner) along with the train station, and it appears there are just some finishing touches to be made on the apron and taxiways. You can also see some ground work at the RWY06 end towards lengthening the runway, in time to accommodate Easyjet's A319's when they launch their new base from here in April 2012.
Remarks: An overview of the 'Squadron' and parking area at North Weald, seen as we join crosswind for RWY20 after a short flight home from Damyn's Hall airfield.
Remarks: Having left the blue skies of Malta behind several hours earlier, it was great to arrive back in England on such a perfect Summer day. Joining the approach for RWY26 at Gatwick.
Remarks: Turning North and leaving the rugged coastline of Malta behind after a great week in the Sun. Luqa airport is also visible with its 4km long runway.
