Remarks: Beautiful colors on this pink-ribboned 757 shining in the sun as it lifts off runway 25L at LAX....think they took this idea from Delta, who started the pink jet schemes with Song in early 2006.
Remarks: The massive Qantas A380 on its second landing ever at LAX, returning from its two hour sightseeing ride north to San Francisco. Notice the two people trying to photograph each other in the lower right corner, and note only inner thrust reverser on this jet.
Remarks: The very first takeoff of this massive Qantas jet from LAX as it takes a two hour sightseeing ride north to San Francisco and then back. The jet is really quite impressive and very quiet on takeoff.
Remarks: Here is a view inside "Entourage," Virgin America's special scheme jet, though all their interiors have these hues. They have what appear to be "black lights" to provide the purple hues near the walls and blue lights overhead for the ceiling. Note that the 1.5 second asymmetrical exposure creates a more unique view.
Remarks: A hallmark jetliner taking off as this weekend belonged to Qantas with their first A380 with John Travolta's Boeing 707. Notice the person above the "7" to the right, looking out the window!
Remarks: Holy cow, I thought New York City was crowded! There's barely a free piece of land here, aside from the mountains in the background. Notice the city skyline to the upper left as we are about to land on runway 25L on an unusually clear and dry day in Los Angeles.
Remarks: The first Qantas A380 taking off from runway 25L for a short VIP trip to San Francisco. Members on board include actors Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta, whose 707 was parked with the A380 during the day. Everyone wanted a photo (see foreground)!
Remarks: Turning onto runway 13R just before a heavy downpour wet the entire area. Notice the copilot.....wondering what I'm doing out there in the grass with a camera.
Remarks: Winglet viewed against the fuselage as this 737 is about to depart from runway 13R just before a big spring rainstorm brewed up. Notice the communications door just forward of the nosewheel is still open….ooops!
Remarks: Inside the Carolinas Aviation Museum one finds many remnants of the early days of aviation, including this 747 main gear truck, donated by tire company BF Goodrich.
