Remarks: The weather was certainly less than ideal, but in any case, it's certainly nice to see the Boeing 777 back in St. Maarten after more than a 10 year absence! AZ's weekly winter 2011/2012 charter goes Milan-St.Maarten-La Romana-Milan every Sunday.
Remarks: To each their own! Most patrons of the Sunset Bar & Grill look on (and one works on her iPad) as US1560 from Charlotte comes in nice and low over Maho.
Remarks: Several days per week, Insel Air has an 11am arrival at SXM which allows not only for a more preferred light angle, but for a much more sparsely populated Maho Beach as well. MDC is seen arriving from Curacao on a clear, vibrant Caribbean morning.
Remarks: On a clear day, the SUMMA7 departure out of Seattle always offers stunning views of Mount Rainier. With a summit elevation of 14,411ft, Rainier is the most topographically prominent mountain in the contiguous United States, and is also considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world.
Remarks: St. Maarten's peak tourist season is definitely in full swing as AF3510 from Paris cruises past the Sunset Bar & Grill and over Maho Beach, seconds from touchdown on runway 10 at the Princess.
Remarks: Seat 2K in British Airways' First cabin has been turned down and converted into an 82" fully flat bed, allowing for several hours of restful napping prior to landing. BA268 LHR-LAX.
Remarks:Just Another Day in Paradise! KL785, thrice-weekly 747 service from Amsterdam, is seconds from touchdown on a beautiful early-afternoon at the Sunset Bar & Grill. It's 5 o'clock somewhere, right?
Remarks: The upper deck Club World cabin on BNLT, which will be my ride to London as BA269. BA's Club World features 78" fully flat beds, 10.4 inch touch-screen AVOD entertainment, and the best sense of privacy I've experienced in any business class product. Bravo!
Remarks: Still one of the best first class cabins in the air, the F cabin on EK's A340-500s was groundbreaking at its time. Seen here prior to departure from Sydney headed to Christchurch, New Zealand.
Remarks: Aviation is as much a part of life in Alaska as it is anywhere in the world. In fact, there are more pilots per capita in the 49th state than any other in the nation. Anchorage, Alaska's largest city, is the aviation hub for flights headed to all parts of the state, the country, and overseas. In this shot, we see the gravel Lake Hood Strip (Z41) in the foreground, the massive Lake Hood Seaplane Base (PALH) in the center of the frame, and behind that, the modern facilities of Anchorage International Airport (PANC). As you can imagine, this can be very busy airspace, and for an aviation enthusiast, watching everything come together between these three unique airports in such close proximity is magical.
