Ahh, the wonderful DC-9's! I just love this view with all the old timers lined up on the ramp at night. Taken at a 30 second exposure at 50mm from the Westin hotel at Detroit.
DTW has a good coating of snow this beautiful day as we fly just to the south of the airport. Our flight (Northwest 1180 from Memphis) would soon loop around for a landing on Runway 21L.

A view down Concourse A of the Edward H McNamara Terminal. Almost a mile long, with 99 gates, 18 luggage carousels, and more than 1.5 miles of moving walkways, it is a very impressive terminal.

Looking toward the old terminal complex and tower from the Northwest ramp.
Definitely a Northwest Airlines hub. The Air France Boeing 777 and the Royal Jordanian A340 look rather lonely among all these red tails.
As we come in for landing onrunway 22R we get a good overview the old terminal complex at DTW including the old tower. A Northwest 757 is taxiing for departure on runway 22L.
