Remarks: Just before sunrise, Nasa 905 making a fly-by with space shuttle Discovery, heading north for the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington DC.
Remarks: The entire NASA Shuttle delivery package is visible on the ramp after arriving JFK. The Shuttle Carrier Aircraft with the Shuttle Enterprise, the DC-9 pathfinder and T-38 chase plane rest after putting on a spectacular arrival over the New York City area visible in the distance.
Remarks: The NASA Shuttle Carrier Aircraft with the Shuttle Enterprise exits Runway 31L and proudly displays an American flag while enroute to parking.
Remarks: The NASA Shuttle Carrier Aircraft with the Shuttle Enterprise sits on the ramp after the arriving JFK. Behind the SCA is a Korean Airlines A388 aircraft that just arrived Runway 31L.
Remarks: A very rare 747-100 gives flight for the first time in 27 years to the Space Shuttle Enterprise (OV-101) and returns her to New York for the first time in 30 years and for the final time as she prepares to move into her new home at the Intrepid.
Remarks: JFK hosts its first Space Shuttle (Enterprise, which actually never flew in space) as N905NA ferries it on its way to a stay at the Sea-Air-Space Museum at the USS Intrepid in Manhattan. The craft will remain docked to the 747 for two weeks after which it will be taken by barge to Manhattan. Here, in this head-on view, the jet and shuttle emerge from clouds during a very low flyby over runway 31L (1260x980 pixels).

Here, the jet and shuttle have just arrived at the ceremonial ramp and, with people in the image, provides a very good sense of scale of the crafts (1200x800 pixels).

Remarks: Having just completed a flyby of the reviewing stand the 747 has just turned into the area to park and give the invited guests a good view of the Enterprise. Even for long time aviation enthusiasts the sight of the shuttle sitting on top of that 747 is amazing.
Remarks: An exciting day at JFK would welcome in the Enterprise, soon to be on display at the Intrepid Museum in New York City. Another of Nasa's marvels will now officially become a New Yorker. What seemed to be an effortless endouver by the 747 that ferried her, it was a sight that just has to be witnessed.
