Remarks: With the breaking down of boundaries, more and more of the Eastern European military aircraft are now being seen at airshows. Here we have an An-26 from Baza (base) 90, which is the transprt squadron based at Otopeni, Bucharest.
Remarks: Making a brief stop is one of 32 (The Royal) Squadrons BAe 125/CC3's. This aircraft first took to the skies in 1983 as G-5-19 before being delivered to the RAF.
Remarks: Heading back home to its base at Grottaglie, this TAV-8B is one of only a handful in service with the Italian Navy, which made it an even more welcome addition to the static display at this years Fairford show.
Remarks: The venerable Corsair will surely not be around for much longer, so this TA-7C Corsair II from 335 Mira, "Tigreis", based at Araxos, was one of the stars of Fairford 2005.
Remarks: The Italian miltary attended the 2005 Fairford show in force, bringing some varied and colourful aircraft and helicopters. One such example was this Guardia di Finanza Pratica di Mare based AB-412HP, seen here in the Fairford sunshine on the Saturday of the show.
Remarks: Its easy to see why the A-10 acquired the name "Warthog" - pretty it isn't, but deadly it is! Here we have an example from the 81st FS/52nd FW departing Fairford to return to its Spangdahlem base.
Remarks: "Behind You" - The unmistakable and threatening shape of the B-52 is only too obvious in this image as this Barksdale based 20th BS/2nd BW beast taxies out under leaden skies to take-off and head for home.
Remarks: Never that common at European venues, this Italian Navy AV-8B Harrier II was looking good as it arrived on the Thursday before the show. The aircraft is attached to the Gruppo Aerei Imbarcati based at Grottaglie.
Remarks: A rare "bird" at European venues, this Italian Navy TAV-8B Harrier II is one of only a few on strength with the Gruppo Aerei Embarcati at Grottaglie. It was certainly looking good as it arrived on the Thursday before the show.
