Remarks: A new ex-JAL aircraft for OX delivered in mid-September. Japan Airlines has been by far the biggest source of second-hand aircraft for Orient Thai.
Remarks: Air Canada 77W taking off heavy to Vancouver although it's not nearly as low as their A343s used to be in the past!
You can see two nice things parked at HAECO in the background......a 744 from the defunct Oasis Airlines & Cathay's Asia's World City 777(B-KPF).
Remarks: The newest A380 operator to HKG climbing away on TG601. HKG & SIN are the first international destinations to receive Thai’s new A380. I’m glad the weather & visibility cooperated!
Remarks: NZ035 normally operated by the 777-200ER was that day replaced with the 777-300ER in the fantastic All Blacks livery. An impressive, creative scheme that in my opinion ranks alongside other great special schemes of the past such as Continental’s Peter Max, SQ’s Tropical Megatop and QF’s Wunula Dreaming.
Remarks: The Air Bridge Cargo scheme is simply one of the finest schemes I’ve ever seen. VP-BIK is seen here departing from 07R catching fantastic early morning light in all the right spots. It's also carrying the “20 years” sticker. Air Bridge Cargo is a subsidiary of Volga-Dnepr Airlines and they were celebrating 20 years of service in the air cargo industry.
Remarks: Yet another airline that’s phased out the expensive gas-guzzling classics. Their -200 & -300 freighters were a very familiar sight at CLK over the years.
Remarks: Despite the large volume of Delta movements we get in Hong Kong their 757 has managed to elude me until this day in Singapore. N537US is pictured here slowing down on 20R on what I assume was an SIAEC-related movement.
Remarks: China Southern 757 rolling for takeoff on 07R. They still have a good number of them in the fleet. Their 757s are rare in Hong Kong & don’t think any have operated to HKG in years.
Remarks: B-LAD about to begin its takeoff roll. B-LAD was recently repainted into normal CX colours after carrying the “100th aircraft: Progress Hong Kong” special livery for about 6 years. This A330 was delivered to the airline already carrying the special livery.
I wish Cathay did something more eye-catching and memorable for their 100th aircraft but it was still nonetheless a very nice tribute for an impressive milestone.
The all-white -400 parked in the background, N548MD, is now flying for Orient Thai as HS-STC. It previously flew with CX as B-HKD and SQ as 9V-SMN.
Remarks: "Pacific 2220" departing HKG bound for Nadi & Guam on a very nice morning. I believe this is the second FJ 738 to have visited HKG for HAECO as last year we got DQ-FJH.
Remarks: I’ve lost count how many new airlines there are in Thailand but here’s another start-up. City Airways, based in Bangkok, has been operating charters to HKG for the past few weeks. Best of luck to them!
