Remarks: First display of the restored Avon Sabre. VH-IPN wears the markings of A94-983 its previous RAAF serial after having been rebuilt initially by No 75 SQN in RAAF Butterworth, who then flying the Mirage IIIO in 1978-79, from parts recovered from the RMAF dump after the aircraft was scrapped by the RMAF when replaced by the F5E. The aircraft was shipped by C-130 back to Australia and performed at numerous airshows around Australia in the mid 80's before being retired due to cost before it was again restored by The Temora Aviation Museum for the RAAF. The aircraft wears the pilots name of Wg Cdr Mick Parer, the CO of No 75 Sqn at the time of its first rebuild. In the background is F/A-18 Hornet A21-30 in the markings of today's No 75 Sqn appropriately marked also with the 'Black Diamonds'. This brings back memories for this photographer as I also performed in company with this aircraft whilst flying the Mirage IIIO displays in 1986.
