Three years after withdrawl of the F-104 the spotters community got a final chance to photograph the stored Starfighters at Ypenburg.

The end of an era: 18 January saw the last ever tow flight by a Starfighter in Dutch AF service. It made also the last working day of the pilot, who retired directly afterwards.
During the summer of 1982 D-8066 was based at Leeuwarden as target tow aircraft. The large dart was attached to the left pylon, where the winch was at the right.
