Remarks: Photo of the Newark control tower from the public parking lot; it looked kind of nice and patriotic with the flag waving in the foreground....until the police car showed up.
Remarks: This is the audio-visual (AV) room in the aft section of the ORBIS DC10 Flying Eye Hospital. Surgeries, lectures and other events are recorded here (see TV at left with operation shown).
Remarks: Flying just south of Brookhaven Airport on Cessna N3544G on a sunny late summer day. The highway to the left (west) is William Floyd Parkway and the small circle in the trees just above center is the Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Lab.
Remarks: One of the first LAX-NRT UA 787 departures after the aircraft went into service out of LAX, leaving from runway 25R. Take a good look at this shot, because these jets are now grounded for awhile...can't believe they flew from 1/3 through 1/16/13 and only a few of us were able to see the bird in action (1280x960 pixels).
Remarks: A beautiful view of downtown Apple Valley California (and Apple Valley Airport; note single runway) after taking off in Cessna 172 N3803S. First image of this tiny and quaint airport in the JP database (1200x800 pixels).
Remarks: Turning right in front of me to takeoff on 31L. If you look carefully, this view shows you both the circular cross-section of the 777 as well as the slightly bulged tires from the massive weight of this fully loaded jet outbound to CDG. OOOPS! Also notice a blown "headlight"!
Remarks: So long to EOS...I was always impressed by their continually clean and polished aircraft, particularly the metal engine lips. Never once saw them dull....and even here as they are parked, these jets still shine….but look carefully; there are some dents in those fan blades.
Remarks: Farmingdale's control tower, literally in the parking lot of the great restaurant The 56th Fighter Group, where you can eat and watch landings right outside your window.
Remarks: It was REALLY cool being in the lead vehicle just ahead of this bird while it taxied out to its 2 hour sight-seeing flight around New York City. Look just under the left wing and you can see part of the city skyline. Also check out the wing, engine and terminal reflection in the fuselage along the lower window row. Great morning sunlight at around 9am!
