Remarks: MM80840 / EI-818 - Preserved at Volandia Aviation Museum Milano Malpensa Italy - The CH-47 Chinook is a medium helicopter capable of carrying loads comparable to those of aircraft. It is used for military and commercial transport and for disaster relief. Conceived in 1956 in reply to a US Army battlefield mobility requirement, the Vertol Model 114 offered a large and easily accessible cargo box thanks to the layout typical of Frank Piasecki (1919-2008) designs, with two counter-rotating rotors atop the fuselage that allowed dispensing with the tail-mounted antitorque rotor. The new helicopter could carry up to 8 tons or 44 soldiers. The prototype flew on 21 September 1961, by when Vertol had been absorbed by Boeing. The first CH-47A were delivered in 1962 and found use in Vietnam.

Remarks: MM23881- Preserved at Volandia Aviation Museum Milano Malpensa Italy - The three-engined SIAI Marchetti S.79 is the most famous Italian aircraft of
the Second World War. About 1,350 were built until 1943, including 603 by SIAI and 63 by Macchi.
It was exported to Brazil, Yugoslavia, Lebanon and
Spain. The twin-engined S.79B variant was sold to Irak and Romania, which built 72 under license.
Designed by Alessandro Marchetti (1884-1966) as a
fast airliner, the S.79 brought together the typical SIAI mixed construction (steel tube frame, wooden wing, fabric covering) with important novelties such as retracting gear and flaps. Flown by Alessandro Passaleva (1895-1941), it made its first flight on 8 October 1934 from Cameri, near Novara.
