Remarks: B-KBI in the old & bland scheme departing on one of those unbeatably good summer days.
This is now with Hainan Airlines as B-5709 as Hong Kong Airlines’ 738s are beginning to be phased out.
Remarks: MyCargo’s first 747, ex-All Nippon Airways, taking off from 07R. MyCargo was formerly known as ACT Cargo Airlines & was rebranded as MyCargo following the Hainan Air Group’s acquisition of a stake in the firm.
Remarks: NZ 744 about to roll for takeoff on a hazy morning. The AKL-HKG-LHR service used to be operated by the jumbo before being replaced with the 772ER. Unfortunately from next March the HKG-LHR portion of the route will be dropped due to poor loads thanks to the challenging economy & stiff competition.
Remarks: Silk Way Airlines approaching 25R. They seem to be doing well here as frequencies have steadily increased since HKG was launched last year & their new subsidiary Silk Way West Airlines have started flights to HKG as well.
Remarks: A most appropriate time to upload Finnair's old "Official airline of Santa Claus" special livery from a few years ago on this now retired type. Merry Christmas everyone!
Remarks: B-HUD taking off in nice morning light. This 747 was withdrawn from the fleet & stored in September 2012 at Kemble, where it was eventually scrapped.
Remarks: I really hope there’s another GFS Open Day in the future as shots like this from HKG are not common. Since mid-2009 B-2290 has been wearing the rather attractive Shanghai Expo 2010 livery.
Remarks: Malaysian 737 departing to Kota Kinabalu & this flight, MH384/385, is now operated by the 737-800. 9M-MQG has been stored since this past July.
Remarks: It’s a shame Southern Air’s classics no longer operate here as Ethiopian now use their own MD-11Fs on flights to HKG, but the MD-11s definitely make up for it! This was originally delivered to Garuda in ’97 as PK-GIM.
Remarks: MU721 on final for 25R operated by an A330 in the Xi’an Horticultural Expo 2011 scheme. Not one of their best special liveries in my opinion but still nice to photograph.
