Remarks: The end of an era: 18 January saw the last ever tow flight by a Starfighter in Dutch AF service. It made also the last working day of the pilot, who retired directly afterwards.
Remarks: During the summer of 1982 D-8066 was based at Leeuwarden as target tow aircraft. The large dart was attached to the left pylon, where the winch was at the right.
Remarks: Normally during a target towing mission the darts were winched out and dropped afterwards. This F-104 had a problem causing the dart to stick underneath the wing. Landing with the dart still attached was a rough ride!
