Remarks: Southwest joins the right downwind for runway 1L as an American MD-82 bound for Los Angeles starts the quick left turnout off runway 1R. Aircraft departing north out of Las Vegas must turn quickly left or right to avoid the Nellis Air Force Base restricted airspace just 6 miles north of the field.
Remarks: Climbing away from runway 1R at LAS on a beautiful evening. No, that's not a dust spot -- it's the residue from repeated bumps by the jetway. ;-)
Remarks: The hotels of the Las Vegas strip are well represented in this photo as a Frontier bus departs back to Denver. Looks like he's looking at you, doesn't it? :-)
Remarks: The first glorious day of weather is upon us here in Las Vegas after another summer of unbelievably hot temperatures. It was below 60°f this morning as an LA-bound American noodle departs runway 1R, framed nicely by the famous Luxor Hotel. In the background, the intriguing 'Janet' terminal can be seen; the place where folks go to board the ultra-secret 737 flights from Las Vegas to Area 51!
Remarks: Air Force One was low and slow as she departed runway 25R from the A4 intersection, becoming airborne less than 1,000 feet from the end of the runway. Here she climbs over the palms of Vegas, and a west coast staple in the United States, Jack in the Box!
Remarks: Better late than never! Korean finally gets her down on runway 22L after a botched landing attempt on runway 13L about 10 minutes earlier. Never a dull moment when 'Korean Blue' is around .. ;)
