Remarks: One of the last photos of this Corsair in Europe. Christophe Jaquard has sold his Dijon based Vought F4U-4 F-AZVJ Corsair back to USA. This aircraft is an ex. USN (BuNo.97264) Corsair, which was accepted for Navy on October 22, 1945. The Corsair went for the storage for next five years. In January 1950 it was moved into service for the Marines. The Corsair served with VMF-223, VMF-225, VMF-211, VMAT-20, VMA-332, NART Missouri and NART Olathe, Kansas. After 11 years service this aircraft was flown to Arizona for storage. In 1959 nine Corsairs were sold to Honduras, BuNo.97264 was one of those. This aircraft was bought back to States in 1973 and it had various owners many years. French warbird lover Christophe Jacquard bought this aircraft in 1996, so F-AZVJ flew some 10 years in Europe. These were the bad news. Good news are that Jacquard has bought a FW 190A-8/N! But Eric Goujon may miss the spacely cockpit of F4U....
Remarks: Ex. FAF Mirage 2000 pilot Erich Gouchon checking his six while taxiing Corsair Warbirds' F4U-4 during Flying Legends 2007. Digital camera is hanging from gun sight! Corsair Warbirds F4U-4 is painted for the colours of VFA-192 USN.
Remarks: The F4U-4 Corsair taxing out to the active for a quick aerial display and then the legacy flight at the Wings over Wisconsin Dells Airshow 2007.
